GOWR - The NORNs

The goddesses of Fate: Urd, Verdandi, and Skuld.
[NORN means "to whisper or whisperer"}
They live at the base of the world tree Yggdrasil,
weaving the tapestry of destiny, of gods and men.
I was tasked to visualize what the Norns might look like from the very start. I explored these fantastic characters closely together with Raf and Dela as a part of the visual development team. The final designs was then handed over to the team to further develop them and breath life into them with fantastic visuals and performances

This was an early exploration on how Kratos would arrive at the realm of the Norns. I was one of the first in the vis dev team exploring this notion. I envisioned Kratos falling into a pond and experiencing the Norns realm underneath the surface

I was in charge of exploring the visual design of the norns. Early on he envisioned different ways the spoke to Kratos. In this version he imagined that they spoke through voice ripples in the sandbed underneath the water.

The Fates: Skuld, Verdandi, and Urd

I designed and explored the look and feel of the Norns together with Raf and Dela's guidance. They did many explorations and here is a selection of the ones that was signed of for the SMS team to further develop.

Urð is a tall and robust old woman with slightly yellow skin, horns, long gray hair down to her back with some braids, and bright golden eyes.

Verðandi is a tall middle-aged woman with brown hair down to her back, like her sisters she possesses small horns, slightly yellow skin, and glowing golden eyes.

Skuld is a young girl who is quite short compared to her two sisters, she has long dark brown hair down to her back and, like her sisters, she has horns on her head, slightly yellow skin, and golden eyes.

The Norns were envisioned to speak through a magical drift wood avatar. Each Norn would take turns and whisped into the avater that would voice their secrets.
